Autoimmune
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Autoimmune Diseases
In a healthy functioning immune system, the body defends itself against infections and diseases. When the immune system malfunctions, the body begins to attack itself by attacking healthy cells, tissues, and organs. This malfunction weakens the body and can even become life threatening if untreated. There are over 80 known autoimmune diseases including Type 1 diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barre, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Hashimoto’s and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Autoimmune diseases can take years to diagnosis if they are rare, resulting in extended periods of suffering before receiving treatment. Autoimmune diseases can be caused by genetic, environmental, psychological and/or a microbial component. Risk factors include genetics, weight, smoking, or certain medications. Research has shown that an autoimmune diagnosis increases the risk of heart disease, anxiety and/or depression.
Common Symptoms of Autoimmune Disease
- Fatigue
- Joint pain and swelling
- Skin problems
- Abdominal pain or digestive issues
- Recurring fever
- Swollen glands
- Sleep disturbances
- Cognitive impairment
- Headaches
Complications from Autoimmune Disease
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Heart Disease
Our Approach to Autoimmune
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Inflammation, hypoxia, and infections are key factors with autoimmune conditions. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy decreases inflammation, oxygenates the entire body, stimulates the growth of new healthy blood vessels, and releases stem cells, up to 800% more after twenty sessions. It also strengthens the immune system, supports all the organs, and heals and repairs the lining of the gut, which is where many autoimmune conditions originate.
QEEG & Neurofeedback Therapy (NFB)
A Quantitative EEG shows us electrical activity of the brain. We will be able to see if inflammation is present, if there are any areas of hyper- or hypoactivity, and any areas of disconnect. Using this information, we can focus on the area(s) of the brain most affected and bring those areas back into balance using Neurofeedback Therapy. Research has shown that Neurofeedback Therapy improves depression, even depression that has been resistant to medication, and decreases anxiety.
