Physical Therapy

The Oxford Center is now offering a unique, insurance-covered approach to physical therapy for children and adults. These sessions focus on retraining the body and brain from a neurological standpoint compared to the traditional muscular approach, making your recovery long-lasting and improving your quality of life from start to finish.

Patients are trained to use muscles correctly, rather than compensating for muscle groups that are not functioning properly. Our physical therapy program seeks to address the root problem and help patients recover and improve function in their body.

Each patient is paired, one-to-one, with a Doctor of Physical Therapy or a Physical Therapy Assistant. Sessions work to eliminate pain, retrain the body, and recover from illnesses, injuries, or trauma.

How Does it Work?

A neurological approach to physical therapy focuses on the functioning of the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord, and how it affects movement and muscle function. This approach looks at the underlying causes of movement disorders and seeks to address them, rather than just treating the symptoms. In contrast, a traditional muscular approach to physical therapy focuses primarily on strengthening and stretching muscles to alleviate pain and improve mobility.

A neurological approach is more comprehensive and holistic, taking into account the whole person and their unique needs.

What Do Sessions Look Like?

Patients beginning physical therapy with The Oxford Center will come in for an initial assessment with one of our skilled physical therapists. In this initial assessment, we will work with the patient to pinpoint areas of concern and develop a plan to eliminate that concern. Our unique approach allows us to target the root cause of your symptoms, rather than just masking the symptom.

You will be paired with a Doctor of Physical Therapy or a Physical Therapy Assistant to work with you one-on-one during each of your sessions. If you believe that we could help you improve your quality of life, give us a call today!

“Super grateful for all the attention received in Oxford, our children have seen a lot of improvement and we definitely recommend this center, can’t wait to come back!”
