Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease involving the central nervous system where the coating of the nerve cells, called myelin, is damaged. This damage to the myelin creates communication issues between the brain and the body by disruption of signals. MS is the most common neurological condition among young adults, affecting approximately 400,000 in the United States and approximately 2.5 million worldwide. It is more common in women. Symptoms can come and go, known as relapsing-remitting MS, which is the most prevalent type of MS. While there is no cure, there are treatments that can help with symptoms, relapses and slowing of the progression of the disease.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy decreases inflammation, oxygenates the entire body, stimulates the growth of new healthy blood vessels, stimulates collagen growth and releases stem cells, up to 800% more after twenty sessions. Traditional treatment for MS involves steroids, immunosuppressants, plasmapheresis for attacks, and medications to slow the progression. Research has shown that oxygen is critical for repair of the barrier and tissue within the central nervous system. HBOT has been shown to improve symptoms of MS such as fatigue, concerns with speech, balance and mobility, bladder issues and difficulty with activities of daily living. A Quantitative EEG shows us electrical activity of the brain. We will be able to see if inflammation is present, if there are any areas of hyper- or hypoactivity, and any areas of disconnect. Using this information, we can focus on the area(s) of the brain most affected and bring those areas back into balance using Neurofeedback Therapy. Research has shown that Neurofeedback Therapy improves depression, even depression that has been resistant to medication, and decreases anxiety.
