Neuropathy
Alternative Treatment for Neuropathy
What is Neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy occurs when there is damage to the peripheral nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord. While it is typically noticed in the hands and feet, it tends to move up into the arms and legs. It can also occur in other areas of the body, affecting functions such as digestion, urination, and circulation. Neuropathy can be a result of an injury, infection, medications, chemotherapy, metabolic issues, genetics, and toxin exposure. Diabetes is one of the most common causes of neuropathy. Traditional treatments involve medications to reduce pain.
Common Symptoms of Neuropathy
- Weakness
- Numbness
- Pain
- Tingling
- Stabbing
- Burning
- Impaired coordination
Complications from Neuropathy
- Heat intolerance
- Excessive sweating or inability to sweat
- Bowel, bladder, or digestive problems
- Dizziness or lightheadedness from a drop in blood pressure
Our Approach to Neuropathy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy decreases inflammation, oxygenates the entire body, stimulates the growth of new healthy blood vessels, regenerates nerve endings and releases stem cells, up to 800% more after twenty sessions. By improving circulation, the body can deliver more oxygen and nutrients to areas affected by neuropathy. Research has shown that nerve regeneration is critical in healing neuropathy. HBOT has been shown to heal and regenerate nerves. Research also suggests that HBOT may be able to reduce pain in patients who suffer from neuropathy induced by chemotherapy.
